age of 15 die as a result of physical abuse and neglect every year in the industrialized world. The greatest risk is for the younger children.<\/p><p>A small group of countries \u2013 Spain, Greece, Italy, Ireland and Norway \u2013 seem to have an exceptionally low rate of infant mortality due to ill-treatment. Belgium, France, Hungary, New Zealand and the Czech Republic have mortality levels following child abuse four to six times higher.
